A Semi-Markov Model for a Particle in Motion on the Line,

Abstract

A particle is at motion on the line. At random times the particle makes a decision either to change direction or to continue moving in the same direction. This set-up is modelled as a Semi-Markov process. The distribution of the displacement of the particle from the origin at time t is obtained. Special cases are studied. (Author)
