A Multichannel Pulse Code Modulation System for Data Collection and Transmission from Oceanographic Buoys,

Abstract

The report describes a multichannel pulse sampling system used with pulse type anemometers and current meters on an oceanographic buoy. The system was built to make it possible to transmit five cup anemometers and five current meter signals via two FM subcarrier channels. The system clock drives the sampling sequences and is also transmitted on a separate FM subcarrier channel. The system is designed with an on-line or delayed breakout capability and will interface with either analog or digital processing devices. The breakout system is described. (Author)
