A Superconducting Cavity Stabilized Oscillator of High Stability,

Abstract

Superconducting Nb cavities of high Q have been used to stabilize Gunn-Effect oscillators. These stabilized oscillators have given an rms fractional frequency fluctuation sigma(y)(N = 2, r = 1.004, tau = 10s), of 1.2 plus or minus 0.1 x 10 to the minus 13th power for an averaging time of 10 s.
