Experimental Determination of the Width of the near Anode Region in the Knudsen Mode of a Thermionic Converter with a Ba plus Cs,

Abstract

The width of the electrode potential region over the surface of the anode was measured in the presence of a transverse constant magnetic field in an overcompensated knudsen-type thermionic converter having a variable interelectrode gap filled by a Ba-Cs mixture. The pressure of the mixture did not exceed .02 torr. It is shown that increased anode voltage increases the width of the region near the anode surface, while increased current reduces the width. Experimental determination of width of the near anode region in the knudsen mode of a thermionic converter with a Ba + Cs interelectrode medium. (Author)
