Lost Opportunity: Army ROTC (Reserve Officers Training Corps).

Abstract

The number of AROTC graduates in relation to four-year college graduates continues to fall. Unless recruiting is more successful, there is no compelling reason to anticipate that AROTC graduates can meet anticipated requirements for active and reserve units. A vigorous recruiting program for AROTC has been launched by CONARC, and this effort, if pursued tenaciously, may pay dividends. At present, it faces the problem of where primary emphasis should be placed. Practical studies are needed on how best to reach potential cadets and once recruited on how to keep them in AROTC.
