The Management of Human Resources in the US Army.

Abstract

The question is whether or not the US Army is concerned with modern techniques for the management of its human resources. If so, does the Army secure officers who are effectively trained and what training is provided for developing and sharpening human resource management skills of career officers. Data were gathered employing review of related literature, program analysis, and personal interview methods. Results show that newly commissioned officers enter the Army with inadequate formal human resource management training. During their early service junior officers have few opportunities to acquire such training. As they progress in their careers more such training opportunities are afforded. However, all officers do not have an opportunity for such training. (Modified author abstract)
