The National Guard: Is CONUS Army Air Defense a Natural.

Abstract

The Army National Guard's operational record during their current assignment to the United States Army Air Defense Task Organization, Ent Air Force Base, Colorado has established an Air Defense mission performance record above reproach. In view of the current economic policy of the present administration the operational responsibility of the remaining active Army NIKE-HERCULES Air Defense sites, as they are presently configured in the United States, should be given to the Army National Guard. The proposed transfer of this mission responsibility to the Army National Guard, as recommended herein, will produce a savings in Department of the Army funds and, most important, will give the North American Air Defense Command and the Continental Air Defense Command an Air Defense force that normally exceeds active Army Air Defense fire units in readiness and performance.
