Reactive Polymers - Polymeric Sun Screens.

Abstract

The objective of the work was to synthesize new compounds which contain ultraviolet absorbing functional groups. They are to be tested as sun screen agents for skin protection. The report describes the synthesis of the following compounds: Methyl N,N-dimethyl-p-aminobenzoate; Ethylene glycol di-N,N-dimethyl-p-aminobenzoate; Diethylene glycol di-N,N-dimethyl-p-aminobenzoate; Triethylene glycol di-N,N-dimethyl-p-aminobenzoate; Tetraethylene glycol di-N,N-dimentyl-p-aminobenzoate; Polyoxyethylene (mw 300) di-N,N-dimethyl-p-aminobenzoate; Polyoxyethylene (mw 400) di-N,N-dimethyl-p-aminobenzoate; Polyoxyethylene (mw 600) i-N,N-imethyl-p-aminobenzoate; UV spectrum of ethylene glycol disalicylate; Diethylene glycol disalicylate; Triethylene glycol disalicylate; Tetraethylene glycol disalicylate; Polyoxyethylene (mw 300) disalicylate; Polyoxyethylene (mw 400) disalicylate; and 2-chloroethyl ether.
