It was demonstrated that several ultrasonic techniques have the potential for overcoming the extraneous background scattering noise normally encountered in titanium structures thereby improving the sensitivity to defect detection at the bond joint. The ultrasonic techniques examined were high resolution flaw detection, spectroscopy and compound scan. (Author)
