Impact of the Person on Social Interchange: A Conceptual Perspective.

Abstract

The report discusses approaches that have been taken to the study of human relations impact. It reviews related research findings and develops a conceptual perspective to guide future research. General approaches to the study of interpersonal impact included person perception, interpersonal behavior, perception of emotions and traits, including judgment of emotions, inferences from traits, the attribution process, and human nourishment traits; the self as a social role; and non-verbal communication, including the decoding process as related to facial cues, body cues, gestures, eye contact, and sex differences, and the encoding process. A scenario dimension, context through time, and the social situation are discussed, and a data analysis logic is proposed. (Modified author abstract)
