A Study of Internal Movements of the Body Occurring on Impact,
Abstract
The present investigation is directed toward measuring the motion of internal body structures when the whole body is submitted to impact. These experiments were performed on the dog. The impact occurred along the long axis of the anital. The device used was an AVCO shock test machine (Model SM-010-3) using an impact pad to produce a half-sine impulse. The drop tower of this machine was modified to permit vertical drops up to seven feet.
