Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) Studies of II-VI Compounds.

Abstract

Electron spin resonance (ESR) studies are reported for Mn(2+), Eu(2+), and Ce(3+) in single crystals of CaS. The cubic field splittings, g-values, and hyperfine constants of Mn(2+) and Eu(2+) were determined and compared to those observed in other hosts. The ESR spectrum and spin-lattice relaxation of a hole center discovered in a crystal of CdS enriched in Cd114 were studied. Preliminary studies of ion-implanted II-VI crystals were undertaken. These included Li+ in ZnSe and CdS and Mn(2+) in CdS and CaS. (Modified author abstract)
