The Value of Programmed Instruction in Secondary Education.

Abstract

The report considers programmed instruction as no longer a fad, but part and parcel of the general principles and practices of education. Concepts of education are observed to have undergone dramatic changes, along with what machines are and do and the role of the teacher in connection with machines. Tutors and teaching machines are compared, since both tutors and the machines require students to do something, and students learn best by doing. A number of facts are discussed.
