Institutional Schizoprenia and Alcoholism.

Abstract

The problem of alcohol abuse and alcoholism within DOD is receiving much emphasis due not only to the recognition of loss in productivity and manpower but also because of Public Law 91-616 approved 1970. Data were gathered primarily through literature search. DOD is seen to a punitive approach toward alcohol abuse by military personnel while exercising a non-punitive disease approach with civilian personnel. This duality is discussed and recommendations are made.
