An Examination of Bias in the News.

Abstract

The institution of the Press in the United States has had parallel growth with growth of the country and government. Initially the media presented a broad spectrum of viewpoints, but economic pressures and consolidation have served to narrow this spectrum. There is growing concern that objectivity has been a casualty in this process. Therefore an examination of the causes of bias and non-objectivity was indicated. The resultant findings are discussed.
