Walter F. George Lock and Dam, Chattahoochee River, Alabama and Georgia.

Abstract

Model investigations of Walter F. George Lock and Dam, a multipurpose structure proposed for construction on the Chattahoochee River, were concerned with the hydraulic performance of the spillway and stilling basin, and flow conditions at and in the vicinity of the powerhouse and in the approaches to the lock. Of particular interest were currents in the lock entrances. The stilling basin for the lock-emptying system was also studied, as well as flow conditions with the cofferdam in place.
