An Instrument for Determining the Force of Adhesion of Aerosol Particles to a Surface,

Abstract

The Russian invention concerns an instrument for the determination of the force of adhesion of aerosol particles to a surface. It consist of an elastic filament of nonmagnetic material, for example quartz; an electromagnet which creastes a force that spearates aerosol particles from the surface; a microscope which fixes the moment of particle separation; and agage which shows the magnitude of the force and is included in the electromagnet's circuit to register the current magnitude corresponding to the instant of spearation. The invention is distinguished by the fact that in order to increase the accuracy of measurements the filament is installed rigidly and its working end is made flat.
