Identifying Parameters of Heterogeneously Mixed Normal Populations Using Curve Fitting Techniques.

Abstract

The paper discusses the feasibility of using least squares curve fitting techniques to determine the parameters of a polymodal normal distribution. Although the attempt to program a specific method proved unworkable within the limitations of the computer facilities available, some of the preliminary techniques were very successful and the overall program provides a good foundation for further research.
