A Comparison of Chemical Procedures Used to Measure Cortisol Concentrations in Parotid Fluid,

Abstract

Cortisol concentrations in parotid fluid have been shown to be possible indicators of physiological stress. Since this type of stress causes a worker to become fatigued and thus reduces his effectiveness it would be useful to measure this stress. The most difficult part of this method is finding a chemical procedure for measuring the cortisol concentration. With the simple methods presented in this paper the cortisol concentration can be measured routinely.
