Binary-Addressable Scan Conversion Storage Tube.

Abstract

OBJECTIVE OF THE CONTRACT IS TO CONDUCT A RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM LEADING TO THE FABRICATION, TESTING, AND DELIVERY OF A BINARY-ADDRESSABLE SCAN-CONVERTER STORAGE TUBE. The tube is to be capable of simultaneous write and non-destructive read operation at video frequency up to 10 magahertz. Three selector-plates with hole-arrays have been drilled this quarter. Thirty-six hours of continuous drilling are required per plate. The major portion of the effort this quarter has been directed toward correcting problems with the laser drill facility so that the tolerances of hole locations can be met. A major portion of the optics of the laser drill was re-designed and re-worked to correct beam-wandering during drilling. Also several problems with cleaning of the wafers both before and after drilling have been corrected. (Author)
