Fabricate and Deliver 100 Shear Spun Motor Cases.

Abstract

One hundred (100) small diameter rocket motor cases were fabricated hydrotested, and delivered for testing. These motor cases (nominally 2.854-inches O. D. by 0.060-inch wall by 7.340-inches long) were cold shear spun from 3.940-inch long preforms of annealed 300 grade maraging steel per MIL-S-46850. After shear spinning, the cases were machined to U. S. Army Missile Command Drawing No. RK 570. Fabrication parameters were developed and all motor cases were hydro-proof tested to 8,300 psig.
