Assessment of Patrol Frigate Maintenance Policy. Capacity of Intermediate Level Maintenance Forces to Support the Fleet, Including the PF, in the 1980s.

Abstract

The intermediate maintenance workload available from the projected tender fleet of the 1980s is compared to the projected workload of the fleet of the 1980s. The analysis shows that tender capacity will be considerably in excess of demand in this period and that the PF will be the largest contributor to this total. Several tenders will be in their fourth decade of service in the 1980s. This fact, together with the dominance of the PF in the total usage of tenders, creates a unique opportunity to rethink the doctrine of tender usage. (Modified author abstract)
