Classification of Coastal Environments: Analysis across the Coast Barrier Island Interfaces.

Abstract

The report presents results of a preliminary analysis of a classification technique designed to stratisfy coastal areas based on similarities across the width of the coastal zone. The coastal zone is defined as extending from the inland point of influence of marine processes to the edge of the continental shelf. Within this zone are subzones indicative of the mesoscale processes that dominate. (Modified author abstract)
