A Simulator for Computer Systems with Storage Units Having Rotational Delays.

Abstract

The note describes a simulator for computer systems with secondary storage units having rotational delays, i.e., drums and disks. This simulator is able to model a wide range of drums and disks and is primarily intended to be used to study alternative scheduling disciplines for rotating storage devices. A discussion is included on the precision of the summary statistics of the simulator, and a short user's guide is provided to aid others in the use of the simulator. The report includes some IBM 360 FORTRAN listings for the main simulator loop. (Modified author abstract)
