Concentration and Temperature Studies of the R-Lines of Ruby.

Abstract

The dependence of the duration and width of the R-lines of ruby luminescence on the concentration of chromium is studies. The dependence of the duration of luminescence lines on the length of the ruby crystal is also studied. With increasing chromium concentration in the ruby, the duration of the R-lines of luminescence decreases quickly at first, and then increases. When there is an increase of the chromium concentration, the width of the R-lines also increases, in which case the width of the R1 line increases more quickly than that of R2. (Author)
