An Analysis and Appraisal of the U S Naval Enlisted Classification (NEC) Program.

Abstract

The paper analyzes and evaluated the US Naval Classification System. It examines the development and management of the Naval Rating and NEC structures and initial classification procedures. Problems of personnel inventory control, enlisted promotion opportunity and accountability of skill level proficiency are discussed. Comparison of classification systems and procedures used by the other services and industry were made and recommendations formulated. (Modified author abstract)
