Statistical Laws Governing the Growth of Cracks under Variable Loading,

Abstract

The article examines the statistical aspect of crack growth under variable loads. It is shown that the scattering due to the heterogeneity of material decreases as cracks grow. At the same time the loading fluctuations have a considerable effect on the growth rate. (Modified author abstract)
