The Evaluation of the Fatigue Strength of Materials in the Case of a Complex Stressed Condition,
Abstract
An analysis is made of the most widespread criteria of fatigue strength in the case of a complex stressed state. The limits of applicability of the existing criteria are shown and additional conditions are given which have to be considered when using these criteria. A criterion of fatigue strength in the case of a complex stressed state is proposed which agrees satisfactorily with the experimental results obtained on plastic materials.
