On the Water Exchange between the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden (O Vodoobmene Mezhdu Krasnym Morem i Adenskim Zalivom),

Abstract

The paper is based on data collected during a 3-year period by VLADIMIR VOROB'YEV (1961-1964) along a cross section at the northeastern limit of Bab el Mandeb (Strait). Indirect methods permitted definition of sharp seasonal intensity variations of deep water flowing from the Red Sea into the Gulf of Aden, as well as the causes of these variations. Thermohaline and hydrochemical properties of Red Sea water change during the year in proportion to the degree of transformation of the water in Bab el Mandeb (Strait). (Modified author abstract)
