Selection of a First Approximation for Numerical Solution to the Boundary Value Problems of Atmospheric Dynamics,

Abstract

The numerical solution of certain problems of hydrodynamic forecasting and general atmospheric circulation leads to the solution of the boundary value problem for an elliptical equation for each step and to the transition from step to step using one or another approximation formula. For example, the numerical integration of the vorticity equations in the quasi-geostrophic and the quasi-solenoidal approximations leads to such a procedure. The problem is discussed in the report.
