Carbon Dioxide Monitoring.

Abstract

The collection of luminescent microorganisms are maintained under cultivation to provide suitable biosensors for the testing program for carbon dioxide. The basic bioluminescent agar medium is currently being used for growth of the cultures. Tests of luminescent microorganisms have been conducted with the gas flow control and sample injection system. Cylinder gas consisting primarily of 78% nitrogen, 21% O2 and 1% argon, has been used as the carrier gas. The use of cylinder gas in a closed system provides opportunity for close control and monitoring of the flowrate as well as for elimination of interference from contaminating gases in the atmosphere and from humidity effects, etc.
