Analysis of Deposits on Valves in a Faulty Truck Diesel Engine.

Abstract

Valves from a frozen diesel engine in a military truck, were obtained and the deposit on these valves analyzed. The material was composed of carbonaceous residue (50 to 55.7%), liquid hydrocarbon fraction (32 to 38%), and ash producing material (9 to 13%). The deposit was probably caused by incomplete combustion of the fuel and lubricating oil used in this vehicle. (Author)
