A Queueing Theoretic Analysis of Two Structures Related to Computer Systems,

Abstract

LYSIS OF Two Structures Related to Computer Systems,Schwenk,Harold S. , Jr;F19628-70-C-0217ESDTR-73-133(*data processing, *queueing theory), input output devices, scheduling, stochastic processes, mathematical models, systems engineering, thesesstatistical processes, network flowsThe report presents a comparison of the mean job throughput and mean job in-system time performance for two related computer system structures. For one system which includes a hyper-exponential service unit, a method was developed which greatly improved upon known, more general numerical approaches by finding a close initial approximation. The comparison of the two structures reveals a marked difference, for each job class, in the mean job in-system time performance. (Author)
