The Performance of Fixed Resistors under Various Environments.

Abstract

The report shows the performance of metal oxide, carbon Grade 1 and carbon Grade 2 resistors under various simulated operational environments. The selected environments were: thermal cycling, combined environments, dry heat and damp heat. The test results show that metal oxide resistors have a longer operational life than carbon resistors. The results also show that the thermal cycling and combined environment tests produce a given degradation of performance in resistors in shorter time than the dry and damp heat tests.
