On Ranges of Lyapunov Transformations.
Abstract
The range of the Lyapunov transformation (L sub A)(H) = A*H + HA, where A is an n x n matrix and H is an n x n hermitian matrix, is discussed. The Stein-Pfeffer theorem is proved and extended in several directions. The proofs involve the idea of a controllability subspace. (Author)
