Damping Capacity of Soil During Dynamic Loading. Report 2. Review of Laboratory Methods of Determining Damping,

Abstract

In predicting the response of soils subjected to dynamic loads, the pertinent soil properties must be known. The report discusses the various laboratory methods for determining the damping value for a soil, resonant column testing, cyclic triaxial testing, and uniaxial-triaxial stress-strain testing. The procedures for calculating the damping values are given. (Author)
