Effects of Resistivity on the Current Induced in an Infinite Circular Cylinder by a Plane Wave,

Abstract

URRENT Induced in an Infinite Circular Cylinder by a Plane Wave,Marx,Egon ;HDL-TR-1617HDL-E142E6(*electric currents, electromagnetic pulses), polarization, transfer functions, propagation, response, interactions, cylindrical bodies, electric cables, antennasplane waves, polarized electromagnetic radiation, electrical resistivityAn expression was found for the axial conduction current induced in an infintely long circular cylinder in free space with a small resistivity by an incident electromagnetic plane wave. A study was made of the qualitative changes in the late-time behavior of the response to a pulse and the limiting case for small angles between the axis of the cylinder and the direction of propagation of the wave when compared to the case of a perfectly conducting cylinder.
