Radio-Wire Integration: A New Concept for Implementation.

Abstract

AS,Edgar ;ECOM-4115(*communication systems, integrated systems), automation, radio equipment, communication and radio systems, field wire communications, tactical warfaremilitary communication, an/gsa-7, secure communicationPresent techniques for implementing the radio-wire integration (RWI) function are inefficient and do not allow use of communications security techniques. An improved RWI system is proposed, from both conceptual and technical standpoints, for use in future Army Area Communications Systems which incorporate automatic switching at the nodes. The following features are included in the improved system; unattended station operation, end-to-end communications security with black interface at the station, and secure signalling between the station and radio nets.
