Materiel Management for the Reserve Components: Can It be Improved.

Abstract

An examination was made of the current Army policy for the materiel support of the Reserve Components (RC). The effectiveness of current policies used in the procurement, allocation, and distribution of principal items of equipment was scanned. Data was gathered by researching Office, Secretary of Defense (OSD) guidance documents, Army Regulations and policy statements, and by personal interviews with Department of the Army, staff members. Particular attention was given to the policies used in the allocation and distribution of Procurement of equipment and missiles, Army (PEMA) major end items. (Modified author abstract)
