A Data Structure for Deductive Information Retrieval.

Abstract

A question answering system is described which uses a directed graph for storage of information. The directed graph consists of nodes, the arcs representing binary relations between the nodes. The program accepts as input binary relations, definitions of n-ary relations and properties of relations and information about n-ary relations and properties of relations. A general purpose inference routine was developed which applies any property of a relation and deduces new information from existing data. (Author)
