Residual Temperature-Induced Humidity Errors in the National Weather Service Radiosonde. Part I.

Abstract

The principal radiosonde currently being procured for both DoD and civilian agencies was recently modified by the National Weather Service to incorporate improvements in the design of the humidity duct. This design incorporated the salient features of a modification previously described by the authors. This is an interim report on a study on a study of this new radiosonde to determine the residual humidity measurement errors and to generate corrections which might further minimize these errors.
