Correlation Measurements in Ship Acoustics,

Abstract

The report treats problems which are solved with the help of measured correlation characteristics used as a means to determine properties of noise sources (dimensions of the radiating surface, extension of the near field); to determine acoustic parameters of structures (insulation, absorption, and reflection of sound); to separate field components (travelling and diffuse, acoustic or turbulent); to determine sound propagation routes, etc. These methods are based on the use of differences in space characteristics of fields, differences in time delay of signals, and differences in noise sources.
