The Effects of Vehicle Dynamics on Asymptotic Stability in Car Following,

Abstract

The results of an early paper by Herman et al. on stability in car following are presented. Based on the theory used in that paper, the asymptotic stability of a string of cars was computed for various dynamic models of the vehicle. The results are compared and the limitations of the theory are discussed. (Author)
