Entropy Coded Adaptive Differential Pulse Code Modulation Systems for Speech Signals,

Abstract

The purpose of the work is to determine the utility of using entropy coding on the output of a Differential Pulse Code Modulation (DPCM) system designed for speech. DPCM systems with both adaptive and non-adaptive quantizers are considered. Only single integration predictors which do not change with time are studied here. Results are obtained for both uniform and minimum mean square error non-uniform quantizers. Speech signals in the presence of Gaussian noise are also considered. (Modified author abstract)
