Impact of Composite Materials on Aerospace Vehicles and Propulsion Systems,

Abstract

The papers presented at an AGARD Symposium that had as its goals an inquiry into the practical state-of-the-art of composite use in aerospace vehicles, an examination of the potential applications for composites in airframe and engines and the advantages thereof, and a definition of the problems and deterrents to broader and more rapid exploitation of this type of material are included in this Proceedings volume. The papers are grouped into three sections: 1) GENERAL AND INTRODUCTORY; 2) application of composites to airframes, structures and other components; and 3) application to propulsion. The fourth section contains a summary analysis, conclusions and recommendations. (P.P.-PL)
