The Rotational Relaxation of Molecular Hydrogen.

Abstract

The rotational collision number, Z(r), has been determined experimentally for molecular hydrogen between 300 and 1900K from molecular beam measurements made in a supersonic free jet. The results are in reasonable agreement with the ultrasonic work of Winter and Hill over their common temperature range of 295-1073K. In terms of momentum transfer collisions, it was found that Z(r) is relatively insensitive to temperature. (Author)
