Mechanisms of Reactions of Oxidizers

Abstract

Progress during the year in the investigations of the mechanism of decomposition of oxidizers such as ammonium nitrate and ammonium perchlorate is summarized. Areas of investigation include the study of the electrical conductivity of single crystals of ammonium perchlorate, measurement of mobility ratios, ion exchange constants and selectivity ratios of cations in Pyrex immersed in fused nitrates and the study of the electrode reactions at both Cu/ CuO and Pt/PtO2 electrodes in carbonate containing fused nitrates exposed to atmospheres of O2, CO2, N2 and H2O. Publications issued and pending are listed.
