Refining the Magnetic Forming Capability.

Abstract

The purpose of this project was to refine the in-house magnetic forming capability. The work, in general, consisted of training personnel in the use of an 18,000 joule high energy capacitor discharge unit obtained from Marshall Space Flight Center, advising NAVORSYSCOM on make or buy decisions on magnetic forming coils, evaluating the advisability of obtaining a 12,000 joule commercially manufactured magnetic forming machine, which was available at Marshall Space Flight Center, and evaluating the work that can be done by magnetic forming equipment andapplications for its use.
