Real-Time Modulator for Coherent Optical Processing.

Abstract

Development and experimental testing of a thermoplastic modulator for real-time insertion into a coherent optical processing channel was carried out. Experiments were performed to establish the quality of data storage and the feasibility of employing the modulator as the input device of a coherent optical spectrum analyzer. The program goals of 20 MHz recording bandwidth for a data aperture containing 1500 x 1500 resolvable elements and having good optical quality were achieved. (Author)
