The program consisted of three primary tasks: the investigation, development, and evaluation of techniques for extracting stored information from large scale plasma/display memory panels via direct electrical readout; the development and evaluation of techniques for manipulating data stored in the display with light pen systems; and the determination of the feasibility of realizing direct optical input systems using commercially available panels.
